Brief

an Automation-Intensive platform for high-value manufacturing to showcase what networked automation can offer; a Labour-Intensive platform for high impact manufacturing that uses smart solutions to empower labour for the majority of MSMEs. The platforms will collect data from all interconnected tools, people, processes, resources and environment, and analyse these using advanced data analytics to help manufacturers enhance productivity, quality, safety and resource utilisation. The programme will develop an Indigenous research capability to support industries to evolve with the development in I4.0 technologies, software, policies, standards and protocols. Major benefits of the manufacturing industry would be access to a demonstration platform with state-of-the-art I4.0 technologies as well as expertise in problem solving in the area. Several industry-partners are identified and technologies being developed as per their requirements. The following are the major deliverables from this programme: Two contrasting platforms to support demonstration/exploration of I4.0 technologies/capabilities; Smart and affordable tools, technologies and solutions for MSMEs; Training for industry leaders, R&D personnel and engineering students in tomorrow’s I4.0; Indigenous research base to which industry can turn for solving research-intensive solutions; Indigenous I4.0 Standards, Protocols and Middleware; International I4.0 conference & awareness workshops; Policy advice for Industry and Government.
